IBC and Medicare

IBC has a long history with Medicare programs. In the early 1990s, IBC was among the first Blue Cross® plans to offer a Medicare HMO, Keystone 65 HMO. Following in 1995, IBC was the first health plan in the nation to offer a Medicare PPO, Personal Choice 65^SM PPO.

IBC is proud to offer a new Medicare Supplement product, MedigapSecurity, in 2010. With a MedigapSecurity plan, members can visit any doctor that accepts Original Medicare. MedigapSecurity covers most out-of-pocket expenses not paid by Original Medicare coverage. MedigapSecurity members who have creditable Part D drug coverage can retain that coverage, or can convert to an affordable Part D plan offered by an Independence Blue Cross contracted company.

In total, more than 175,000 Medicare enrollees are covered through IBC products in the Philadelphia region.
